“Don’t speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn’t know the difference. Words are energy and they cast spells, that’s why it’s called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself, and you can change your life.”― Bruce Lee.

These words of wisdom by Bruce Lee have deeply impacted my life. Especially, ‘Change the way you speak about yourself, and you can change your life.

This is the absolute “1 powerful love yourself caption to add to your self-love bucket list.”

In the past two years since I started understanding and practicing self-love. I often questioned how to love myself unconditionally. I needed to learn to shut down these negative thoughts that consumed me so much and lowered my self-esteem and self-confidence.

Research has revealed that humans generate up to 70,000 thoughts daily, of which 80% are usually negative.

In my quest to find the answer to this problem of negative self-talk. A plague to the human mind. I found a solution and want to share my practice of combating negative thoughts to live a healthier and happier life.

The solution to overcoming your daily negative self-talk

🔔 Identify your negative self-talk pattern

The best way to overcome negative self-talk is to catch it before it has the chance to develop.

Each time a negative thought crosses your mind-

🧨Recognize it by understanding your negative self-talk pattern.

🧨Make an effort to reframe it into something more positive and optimistic.

🧨Acknowledge your feelings, but try to find the good in the situation.

When I notice my inner critic telling me I’m not good enough, I take a deep breath, take a few moments for myself, and shift my focus to positive things in my life that I’m proud of.

For example, I’ll remind myself of all the great moments with my kids, the incredible milestones we have accomplished at work, or a good moment with my partner.

🎯 By recognizing and acknowledging negative self-talk and replacing it with a positive narrative, you can start to practice self-care and rebuild your confidence and resilience.

How do you replace negative thoughts?

🔔Negative absolutes

I love this exercise and have greatly benefited from implementing it in my daily routine.

🧨 Once you recognize and notice these thoughts, tell yourself the opposite.

If your thought is that, “I always screw up,” replace that thought with, “sometimes I make mistakes, but that’s okay; I will learn and grow from those mistakes.”

If you think, “I will never get this right,” change that thought with this, “I am struggling with this, but I will get it.”

Last Word

Negative thoughts don’t define us, but how we react to them does. So when those negative thoughts arise, please take a moment to think about something positive and replace it with a better thought.

Self-love 🟰Positive self-talk.
